The carbon block has millions of active sites on it's surface and within the structure which can absorb impurities like a sponge, and can absorb and hold other types of impurities on it's surface like a magnet. Additionally this filter can catalytically breakdown other impurities very similar to the way a catalytic converter works in your automobile. These processes ensure that you are getting the cleanest and best tasting water possible. Operating Specifications: Flow Rate: .5 gpm Operating Temperature: 33 - 100 ° F Operating Pressure: 30 - 100 psi Life: 6 months or 300 gallons Filter Features: Economical alternative to expensive substitutes Delivers clean, clear water that looks and tastes great Will remove or reduce Chlorine, Tases and Odors that may be present in your drinking water Designed to provide up to six months of life or 300 gallons Does not remove minerals which may be beneficial to health This filter should not be used with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality, without adequate disinfection before and or after the filter. This filter has been tested by the manufacturer against ANSI/NSF Standard 42 for the reduction of Chlorine, Tastes and Odors. Installation Instructions: Turn off the ice maker in your refrigerator (refer to owners manual if needed) Remove existing filter by turning filter cup, located inside your refrigerator counter clockwise, multiple turns Pull out the out filter Wash the filter cup with warm water and liquid soap, then dry Remove shrink wrap from the new filter Apply a dab of Silicone Lubricant (included) and spread evenly on O-ring of filter Insert filter into filter cup, O-ring end should be facing up Insert cup with filter into refrigerator and turn clockwise until cup is seated firmly Turn on refrigerator ice maker

I had no problems with filter installation, water tasted great (good as with OEM). This is my second order and as long as this order performs as well as the first I will continue to order these Aquafresh brand water filters. I might add the turn around time was very satisfactory.

In my search for a reasonably priced fridge filter, this one was a pleasant surprise. My previous Brita filter really slowed down the water flow, whereas the WaterSentinel did not. The through put is much, much higher. We use our fridge filtered water for all our cooking, coffee, tea, refill water bottles, etc. So it gets quite a workout. Not sure on the life span of these, but we'll see. I'll update whenever it expires. For now, I am very happy with the results and the price. [...]

I have only used this product for two days. It was easy to install and seems to be performing as well as the original that I just replaced. This filter costs significantly less than purchasing a replacement from the manufacturer of the refrigerator. I would definietly purchase this brand again.
