The Model 1750A replaces the model 1700 dehumidifier and 1750 dehumidifier. "A" Model signifies new R410A refrigerant.
New features on the Aprilaire 1750A Dehumidifier include:
- Updated housing color
- New LED status and service indicator tells you when the unit is running normally, sampling, defrosting and when it is in need of service
Excess humidity in the air can cause homes to be smelly, musty and noticeably damp. Nobody wants to go there, play there, be there. Excess humidity can damage basement furniture and furnishings, cause wood to swell and fabric to rot. Stored items grow mildew and wall paneling peels. High basement humidity can lead to health threatening conditions too. Any basement with relative humidity regularly above 60% can become the perfect breeding ground for a variety of pathogens like mold, mildew and fungi.
Common portable dehumidifiers are a weak answer
Portable dehumidifiers don't perform well in cooler basement environments and you typically need more than one to treat your entire home. Click here to learn more about whole house vs. portable dehumidifiers.
The Aprilaire 1750A Is The Solution
This Aprilaire Central Dehumidifier is designed specifically to control humidity inside the whole home as well as in crawlspaces and attics. Built-in duct collars alow for easy connection to the central HVAC system. This dehumidifier automatically and continually measures the true measure of moisture level, dew point. The unit operates to control humidity to the dryness set point that is either set on the unit or on the optional living space control. A built-in, automatic air cycling feature can be utilized to activate the HVAC fan to cycle the air throughout the whole home for proper balance for comfort. This dehumidifier also has a patented, built-in ventilation feature, which will allow fresh air to be brought into the home from the outside. In utilizing this feature, the dehumidifier will dehumidify the incoming air, if needed (based on dew point / dryness set point), as the outside air is first entering the home. The built-in ventilation feature is designed to be able to meet ASHRAE 62.2 Standard for Ventilation.
The Best Choice for healthy, comfortable air is the Model 1750A Whole House Dehumidifier installed in your new or existing heating and cooling system. The benefits and results speak for themselves:
- Provides three times the moisture removing capacity of leading portable dehumidifiers-up to 90 pints or 11.25 gallons per day
- Has no tank to empty - unit can be attached to home's water drainage system with 1" PVC pipe. Can also be gravity drained into floor drain or sump pit. Can use optional condensate pump to pump water up to a sink.
- Automatically senses moisture levels and maintains optimum humidity levels in your home, never too much, or too little and running only when needed
- Switches automatically between whole-house dehumidification when central air-conditioning system is running, and localized dehumidification when your air-conditioning isn't running
- Convertible from whole-home to localized application lets you solve excess moisture issues where you need it most from crawl spaces to attics and basements
- Can be operated manually, allowing you to monitor and control moisture levels in a specific location-such as your basement or master bedroom (optional Living Space Control is required)
- Easy to use - level the feet, and plug it in, and set the humidity level!
- Powerful, 275 CFM Fan
- Includes aluminum MERV 8 filter for air intake - can be washed or replaced annually or semi-annually depending on conditions
- On-board LED panel provides easily understood feedback / validation on the unit's operation and performance. The LED's tell you when the unit is running, sampling, and when there is a problem with the unit.
- Includes PVC condensate trap - must be used to prevent backflow of condensate.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
Used in a 2500 sq ft finished basement (9 rooms). We use the shower a lot which added to the humidity.
The 1750a began working in MINUTES, sucking water out of the air. I made an error in the HVAC connection which one call to Aprilaire cleared up in a minute. My situation called for a lot of prep work to route a pipe to the sump-pump but the actual installation including the duct-work was about 4 hrs, very easy.
There was a noticeable difference in less than 8 hours. The musty smell was gone in about 2 days. The fan does make noise, but it is not louder than the HVAC itself. My only regret is that I should have gotten the 1770a !!
I didn't use the supplied drain-trap, preferring to use one that can be opened.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
Bought this for a customer with a long-time damp basement at a house by a lake. It worked fine right out of the box. It's in a basement, and hard to hear when upstairs.
I would five-star it but when you start it, you're encouraged to run a test cycle, that takes 3-4 minutes. Then, you have to wait 1/2 or a full hour before it starts again. I finished the install and wanted to leave, but felt I had to stay to be sure it cycled on again. It did. Otherwise a good machine.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
This was a replacement for a 1700A Aprilaire Dehumidifier that quit working. This company answered all my questions and shipped the unit quickly. It was not difficult to install, especially since the fittings were similar. There is a vibration noise that we didn't have with the other unit, but, it's tolerable. We're now enjoying a nice, dry basement again.

We are using it to dry out and keep dried out our 2100 sq. ft. crawlspace. So far so good. This is May. We are curious to see how the unit does in the high humidity month of Aug. here in North Carolina. I would recommend this product.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
It's a great unit when hooked up to the furnace system. Get the #75 control for the wall so it takes care of cycling when it needs to. We have a 180 gallon aquarium so too much water in the air. This has solved the problem completly. Wish I would of purchased it a long time ago.

I added this unit to my hvac and all I hear is the furnace fan when it is working. My 60% humidity is now down to 40%.I see no down side in two weeks of operation.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
My house is so tight that humidity from showers, cooking, etc. does not have anywhere to escape causing problems with condensation on windows and basement walls in the winter. I was using a portable humidifier to deal with humidity on the first floor. That unit was loud and didn't really do the job and it did nothing for the basement. The Aprilaire 1750 has been running for about 2 weeks now and there are no more condensation problems. The unit is quiet and is wired to run the central blower motor while on. This feature provides air movement throughout the house at times when the hvac system is not normally operating which is a plus in a tight house. I plan to make use of the fresh air inlet option soon which should help the humidity reducing ability of the unit even more during the winter. Overall I'm very happy with the unit and wish I'd purchased one years ago.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
Wonderful dehumidifier! Important to insulate ductwork properly to achieve quiet operation (As noted in instructions).
After two portable dehumidifiers died his basement, my customer asked me, "Isn't there something better?" My answer was the 1750A unit. It was compact enough to build a set of shelves above, barely displacing any space in the already crowded HVAC room. Highly recommended, worth the extra cost of a unit I don't have to think about except when it's time to clean the filter!

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
I am satisfied so far with the results. Our 1500 sq.ft. basement was the main concern with high humidity. It was musty and had mildew on everything. When I checked the RH with the hygrometer, it was about 75% in the basement before turning on the unit. It took about 5-6 days for it to reach 50%(steady running). It's too soon to tell about the electrical usage, but I will check it after the RH levels out. The unit can easily be installed with minimal tools. The back-flow damper seems to be working fine. I am pulling intake air directly out of the basement and dumping it into the return on the HVAC plenum. I would recommend this unit to family.
