The Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT was specifically designed for large crawlspaces and basements. The high-capacity (415 cfm) blower on the Max Dry moves air in a way that no small mass-merchant unit can. The Max Dry's horizontal configuration and flow-through design perform exceptionally well in crawlspaces. The optional condensate pump and ducting kits provide the installation flexibility necessary for the most challenging applications
FEATURES:
* High Efficiency - The high efficiency Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT produces over 7.9 pints per kilowatt/hour, far better than most mass merchant dehumidifiers.
* Large Capacity - The high capacity Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT provides up to 150 pints per day water removal at standard rating conditions. Large-sized crawlspaces (up to 3600 sq. ft.) are no problem for the Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT.
* Low Temperature Operation - The Max Dry was engineered for crawlspaces and basements - and the temperature and air flow issues that they present. When many mass-merchant dehumidifiers have stopped removing water, the Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT continues to protect your family and your home.
* Superior Air Filtration - MERV-6 filtration is standard on the Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT, capturing particles (including mold spores) down to 1 micron in size. This superior level of
air filtration also keeps the Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT working at peak efficiency for longer than other devices with cheaper designs.
* Optional Equipment - Ducting kits and condensate pumps are available for use with the Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT. These optional kits provide the ultimate in flexibility for your specific installation requirements.
Dual Air, Large Capacity Dehumidification
Because basement and crawlspace floors and walls are in contact with the soil, and soil temperatures several feet below the surface remain at a constant temperature of 50°F- 60°F. Basement and crawlspace floors and walls tend to remain cool. Since basements and crawlspaces tend to be cool, and cool air holds less moisture than warm air, they will have higher relative humidity.
Typically, the closer to ground level, the larger the area, and the damper the environment, the more capacity that will be necessary to dry out the area. Capacity is usually measured in the number of pints of water that a dehumidifier can remove from the air at a given temperature over a given period of time.
Capacities for residential dehumidifiers are measured in pints of water removed per day at standard conditions. Standard conditions are determined by the American Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) and are used because capacity will vary under different conditions. AHAM standard rating conditions are 80°F and 60% RH. The capacity for the Max Dry is 150 pints per day. Most standard residential units range from 20 to 65 pints of water removal per day. However, most basements and crawlspaces are cooler than 80°F and therefore the water removal capacity of the standard residential unit will be diminished significantly.
A large capacity dehumidifier is necessary to ensure that enough moisture is removed at the real-world temperature of your basement or crawlspace to prevent mold, mildew and bacterial growth. The Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT is a large-capacity dehumidifier designed for these cooler applications.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
While it took me a while to accept that this is what I would have to pay for a dehumidifier that would actually work for my 2600 sqft basement, I must admit that it is a must have for any large or damp basement. Our entire house is more comfortable and our dry food doesn't stale as fast in the summer time. The unit is pretty large, but I bought the wheel kit so it moves easily. This particular one cannot really be put against the wall on any of the four sides, one side is the air intake, two sides exhasut air and the fourth side has controls on it. We currently just have it sitting out in the middle of the floor.

I have a ranch home with a 3200 sq. ft. unfinished basement 9-0 high ceilings that also includes a 500 sq. ft. crawl space. I had only one smaller dehumidifier which quit working after 3 years, I new I really needed at least two. After talking to a couple of my neighbors of what they were using, both of them had two of the smaller types of dehumidifiers running all the time. After researching some more I couldn't see wasting my money on the smaller types. I looked at it as an investment not what's cheaper at the time, what's going to hold up in the long run, and which will save me money in the long run. And that's why I bought a Santa Fe Max Dry , this a peice of equipment not a toy. Within a matter of a few days it brought my basement from 75% to 50% humidity now it just goes on to maintain, I couldn't be more satisfied. I also like the fact that it can be duct out of my furnace room, and it was built in the USA!
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I have a 1400 SF basement with 8' ceilings that was very damp. It took this unit about a day and a half to drop the humidity from 70% down to 45%. Maintaining the 45% seems effortless and the unit runs far less often than the one it replaces. It is fairly quiet but you can hear it turn on and off if you are in the basement. You can't hear it at all from the first floor. I previously used the cheaper small units that you can purchase at [...]. They would run almost continously and could barely get the humidity down to 60%. They would also break down in a year or so and have to be replaced. My only complaint with the new unit was that the drain is on the bottom edge of the case and even with the optional casters it was several inches below the top of my existing condensate pump. I put a stack of 2x4's under the legs and that fixed the problem but now the installation looks sloppy and the casters are pointless. I went back and looked at the condensate pump kit specific to this unit and the picture shows the same issue - the hose comes out of the unit and then runs UP a couple of inches and then down into the pump. I hated to deduct a full star for such a minor problem but I just couldn't call it perfect. Consider my actual rating 4.8 stars.

We recently moved our business to a warehouse thatturned out to be more humid than we realized. We were concerned that our inventory would be ruined. [...]very easy to set up. Our humidity problem has been solved and we are very happy with our purchase.

In basement - easily drying out >1500ft^2
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I installed the dehumidifier in the crawl space of my 3000 SF home and also completly sealed off the crawl. The crawl space had been staying at 90% humidity. Three weeks later the humidity is down to 59%. Seems to be doing the job. Install was pretty simple, only complaint I have is where the adjustable legs screw into the frame is pretty flimsy so if you have the legs screwed way out the unit is pretty shaky. Best to screw them all the way in and raise unit up on blocks to get it off the ground.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
[...]. It is a very solid piece of equipment. We had it up and running within a couple of hours, and most of that time was spent installing the condensate pump and drain line. We have put it in our daylight basement next to our furnace, but have not connected it to the ductwork. It has pulled the humidity down in the house substantially. The only negative is the noise - which may be just the air movement, since our furnace is also about as noisy. It is perfectly OK in our basement but I would consider carefully before installing it in a main living area.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
Fantastic machine! Have checked output many times and cosistently pulling over 150 pints/day out of a crawl space that recently started getting wet due to record rainfall. Have recorded over 205 pints/day at times. Too early to check cost of operation--but it does the job, in spades. Highest recommendation.
