This unit replaces part # 4021400 (new model has new R410A refrigerant and new warranty).

The Santa Fe Classic is a high capacity, energy efficient dehumidifier. The Santa Fe Classic is Energy Star rated and removes more water per unit of electricity than any other qualified dehumidifier. It can operate as a 'stand alone' dehumidifier; simply plug it in, route the condensate hose to a drain, and set the dehumidistat. It is ideal for basement and crawlspace applications since it operates effectively in temperatures as low as 53°F. Normally, a Santa Fe unit will maintain relative humidity levels below 50% in areas up to 3,000 square feet. An optional duct kit allows the Santa Fe Classic to be located in a mechanical room and deliver the dried air to another area via air ducts. Other available options include a noise reduction kit, a remote dehumidistat and a condensate pump kit.

The Santa Fe is a high efficiency residential dehumidifier that utilizes refrigeration to cool the incoming air stream below its dew point as it passes through the dehumidification (evaporator) coil. This cooling results in the removal of moisture (latent heat) and reduction of the temperature (sensible heat). The cooled and dried air is used to pre-cool the incoming air stream resulting in up to a 200 percent increase in overall efficiency. After the pre-cooling stage the processed air is reheated by passing through the condenser coil. The latent heat removed by the evaporator coil is returned to the air stream at this stage as sensible heat, resulting in an overall increase in temperature from the incoming air.

The Santa Fe is controlled by a manual dial-type dehumidistat with positive "ON" and "OFF" settings and a variable setting range.   Note: Relative humidity level that can be achieved depends on temperature in space.

Features:

  • The Santa Fe has a built-in defrost system that is designed for operation down to 45°F.
  • The unit contains a blower switch that permits continuous blower operation independent of dehumidification.
  • The Santa Fe is portable and provided with four casters.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

All previous equipment purchases failed to dehumidify my basement and stopped running after a few months. My last dehumidifier lasted 3 days. They ran 24hrs a day everyday. The basement humidity measured 75-90% with moisture collecting on the home air handler and duct work. I rented a commercial unit for a week and after 7 days running continuous it reduced the humidity to 57%. After placing the Santa Fe Classic in service within 3 days the basement was down to 42%. It now is maintaining 50% cycling on and off as expected. This is a unit I would purchase again and without hesitation recommend to family and friends.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

Researched and purchased this same unit for my father three seasons ago and works like the day we started it up, so it was a no-brainer to buy one for myself when I bought a house with a damp basement. There is literally nothing I can think of to say bad or be critical about it, it is a little on the heavy side, as expected, but I can still pick it up by myself with some effort, and it rolls easily, even on an old uneven concrete floor. Got the damp feeling out of the 800 square foot basement within hours, and now kicks on and off maintaining a level of about 40%. I don't find it any louder upstairs than our old portable unit, and even though it is below our living room, is not too loud for tv watching.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

I've been purchasing store brand humidifiers for years, I've never been happy with their ability to dehumidify. Even the top rated mega store brands were noisy, could never get the smell out of my basement, and struggled to get the humidity levels below 60. After 48 hours the Santa Fe at the highest setting brought the humidity level down to 42. I keep the humidity between 48 - 52 and there's no emptying buckets every day. I would highly recommend this product.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

This unit delivered! Setup in a 1000 sq ft basement with 70% humidity and within 8 hours was down to 50%. I installed in a second home and was not comfortable leaving a small store-bought unit running unattended for weeks so wanted to buy a unit that was efficient and reliable. This one impressed out of the box. I also bought the optional duct kit for future use but think it was a bit pricey for what you get. Overall, I could not be more pleased with this dehumidifier or NT Supply.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

After years of wasting money on the small compact units, I "bit the bullet" and bought this room size unit. Based on the description I thought it would be the solution. And thankfully it was. My basement is dry, mold free, and smells 100% better. The set up was easy (just like the video). The alternate pump works well. It's no more noisier than the smaller units. Best of all it doesn't constantly need to run. Very efficient and effective.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

This is my second Santa Fe. I consider it a major appliance, and in this part of the country, major appliances stay with a house when you sell. Consider that the average "energy efficient" dehumidifier that is purchased at [...]. lasts just one or two seasons before it starts getting noisy or the motor burns out. No such model ever runs through the winter. So you end up "collecting" old dehumidifiers to dump into the waste stream. Hardly energy efficient. My first Santa Fe barely flinched in the 5 yrs I lived with it. I expect no less from this one. They truly dehumidify better, are more efficient and more cost effective (lifetime cost) than any other brand. The only difficulty I've ever had is finding a good place where the power cord reaches an outlet AND the drain tube reaches the drain, without my tripping over it.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

As I have only had unit for a few weeks it is to early to make a comment about "energy efficiency". [...] The unit is installed in our 958sqft basement. The basement temp at that time was 55 degree's and 69%rh. Extracting h2o when the air temp is that cold was fair (this is normal). The unit does a terrific job of h2o extraction after the basement temp hit 62 degree's. I am very pleased. [...] the low h20 extraction in the cooler basement environment and was presented with some excellent fact's concerning this subject. [...] I, like many buyer's of this unit, had in the past, experienced sub-par performance and subsequent unit failure's after a very short time of other cheaper units that we had purchased from the big box stores. This unit is built better, and performs better. The engineering built into preventing coil freeze up's is outstanding. Coil freeze up is what kills the cheaper unit's by destroying the compressor. The cheaper unit's, after a short period of time fail to sense the coil freezing and this condition allows the compressor to continue running eventually burning up the compressor. The filter's are exceedingly easy to change, but I have not been able to find the Merv 11 filter required in local stores. They are available however from Dehumidifier Expert's and other on-line stores. The Merv 11 filter is a very well made filter and much more efficient than the cheap washable filter's found on the cheaper unit's.This is a very easy unit to move about once you have it moved to the basement or to the selected elevation in your home or business. The included discharge hose is of the right length for draining into a basement sump. I do not have the auto water pump that you can purchase optionally with the unit but I have the same branded unit attached to my home A/C system and it work's fine.Much has been written about this unit needing an indexed dial and I agree with that, but this is a very minor distraction and once you get the hang of how to set the dial using the "clock' system all is fine.My only regret with this unit is that I did not know about it's existence many years ago.....I would have saved a lot of $$$$ in the long run.I purchased the unit for it's construction quality and potential longevity and I have no reason to believe it will not perform otherwise.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):

We've been using the Santa Fe Classic for almost a year now; the basement being the driest it's ever been.

Enter the big east coast storm which knocked out everyone's electricity and resulted in a flooded basement. After the sump pump kicked back in and we shop vacuumed the entire floor I mistakenly thought it would only take a few days to get it back to a normal humidity level again. The humidifier has been running non-stop for 7 days now. The humidity level when we started it up again was at 78%. Today it is 66%. Granted, it is a big basement in an old building but I had hoped this unit would have dried the basement air out quicker. I know our electric bill will be extremely high since the dehumidifier has been running 24/7.

The cave crickets are back and are breading behind my workbench. Unless the air dries soon I may have another infestation problem. (The Santa Fe got rid of the old infestation problem).

I am still happy with this model and would have given it 5 stars if not for the length of time its taken to get the humidity down to a workable 60%.
